Pengembangan Bahan Ajar Segitiga Dengan Pendekatan Open Ended Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika

The purposes of this research are to develop open ended approach materials for triangle lesson unit at 7th grade of SMP Negeri 6 Serui , to describe the effectiveness of open ended approach for the unit at 7th grade of SMP Negeri 6 Serui and to improve problem solving ability of students. The instructional materials are said to be good if they are stated valid by experts and after trials, satisfy five conditions, namely: students’ activities, teacher’s ability to manage the instruction, students’ response for instructional tools are positive, and the achievement test is reliable, valid and sensitive. Furthermore, open ended instruction is said to be effective if classical students’ mastery achieved, students’ activities in the instructional process are between the ideal time’s tolerance boundary, teacher’s ability to manage the instruction is minimal good enough, students’ response for the instruction are positive. The development of instructional materials used a modified 4-D model of Thiagarajan, et al. The development process consists of three phases, namely: define, design and develop. Research data was analyzed descriptively. The results of analysis show that (1) the developed instructional materials, namely: lesson plans, teacher’s guide book, students’ activity sheets, and achievement test satisfy the criteria of good instructional materials; (2) open ended approach is effective for triangle lesson unit; (3) the increase of ability problem solving
